PIN acceptance
What do you need?
The things you need in order to accept PIN payments are:
- a PIN POS terminal;
- a PIN contract (either alone or in combination with Chipknip);
- a data communication connection.
PIN does not itself supply POS terminals. We cannot therefore tell you how much the system will cost to set up. The costs vary from one supplier to another, and depend on your requirements.
When procuring a POS terminal, it is a good idea to check how future-proof the equipment is. Points to watch out for in a new POS terminal are described on the website www.betaalterminal.nl. This site contains comprehensive information on POS terminals, suppliers and costs of the different options. More details can be found on www.slimmepinpakketten.nl.
For more information on accepting PIN and entering into the required contract you should contact your bank or POS terminal supplier.
Smart PIN Packs (Slimme PINpakketten)
Smart PIN Packs offer total solutions for merchants wishing to accept PIN. With the new Smart PIN Packs, you know precisely where you stand as regards cost. There are no surprises. As a minimum, the packs will comprise a POS terminal and a contract for your data communication service and, in many cases, also include bank charges, internet usage and telephone costs, for example. A fixed monthly fee covers either a set maximum number of PIN transactions per month or, in some cases, unlimited usage.
The clever part about these Smart PIN Packs is that they provide a one-stop shop, making the whole business a lot simpler for merchants. Packs are available from various suppliers and aimed at different target groups, including businesses where PIN will not be used a great deal or where the average transaction amount is small.
